A LOVE LETTER TO MY FAVOURITE LOVER

The last time I had you, I did not really enjoy the experience
Maybe I was too hard with the stick when I was getting you ready
Next time I promise to make you warm and soggy
Just like the very first time;
I remember the first time
I really don’t know how to describe the feeling
You were hot and warm at the same time on the inside
I had to turn my tongue round you a number of times to get you ready
It was almost like the best day of my life
The second time, you tasted even better with all the sounds you had me making
Your added accessories made the second time more intense and enjoyable
And the next encounter,
And the next;
And the next.
It is like you know exactly how I want it when we go down;
Warm, soggy and hot.
And you leave me sweating after we are done.
What a feeling!
I’d rather go blind than watch you walk out of my life
Thank you for being who you are.
I will always cherish you and all our intimate moments.
Don’t let anyone treat you like plain rice because you are JOLLOF rice!

PRICELESS DREAMS...EPISODE TWENTY (20) THE FINALE

“Jesus!”, Frank yelled as he rushed in a frantic effort to prevent Leticia from slipping and falling into the cesspit. He was too late to prevent the inevitable from happening but he was fast enough to avoid the unthinkable from happening. Leticia had slipped and fallen into the cesspit but only one of her legs entered the pit. She held the baby tightly with both hands and was also held tightly by Frank who was scared to death at what would have happened should she have fallen into the cesspit. “I told you to stay put”, Frank yelled at Leticia as he forcibly took the baby from Leticia. He held the baby tightly in one hand and helped Leticia out of the pit with the other hand. He went into the room and got Leticia a bucket of water, sponge and soap to thoroughly wash down after that unfortunate incident. “Leticia, please hear me out”, Frank started to speak after Leticia had taken her bath and changed her clothes. “In my heart of hearts, I know that you would love for us to be together”, Frank continued. “I always had that in mind too from the first day we met but things didn’t go the way I planned”. “I would not want us to play the blame game here as to who is to blame for our relationship hitting the rocks”. “We would be doing ourselves a great disservice which would lead nowhere”. “We have grown out of it and thank God that I would always have a piece of you always in my life and in my heart in the form of our lovely daughter, Bridget”. Leticia knew from the way Frank spoke and from the way he constantly paused as he spoke to take a look at the wedding ring he had on his finger that his mind was made up; he was in love with Rita and didn’t want to jeopardize their union.  He had chosen Rita and that decision would not be altered. “How would I possibly explain myself to this little girl that her daddy cannot live with us but has to live elsewhere?”, Leticia asked Frank with tears in her eyes. “You know that I need a man to keep me company in these times that I feel like breaking down”. “I grew up with both parents till they separated, but my daughter won’t even so much as have that chance of waking up to see her mummy and daddy together, having breakfast together and helping her with her homework”, Leticia said with tears rolling down her cheeks. “I believe I can’t win your love back but please whenever I call upon you with issues relating to this innocent child, please do not disappoint me”, Leticia said. Frank promised to give his best possible in ensuring that their daughter got the best in life. That Saturday night, he got home late due to the incident at Leticia’s house.

When he got home, he tried to explain himself to Rita and it seemed she was beginning to get fed up with his ‘frequent Saturday visits’. “Frank, how do you expect me to also get pregnant and bear our own children if you have to spend all your time with Leticia and her daughter?”, Rita asked. “What is that supposed to mean, Rita”, Frank asked while taking off his shirt. “I thought we agreed on this”, Frank, who was sensing jealousy asked. “We discussed this and…”, Frank wanted to explain. “We discussed this but is that what you agreed on?”, Rita cut in. “You told me that I am your priority but it turns out your daughter is far more important to you than me now.” “I just hope you don’t end up getting her mother pregnant again”. “Frank, I swear to God, if that happens, you would come back home to meet an empty house, trust me”. “I am not a trophy, I am a woman, I want to carry my own children, please stay home and fulfil your part of this deal”, Rita complained. Frank walked up to where Rita was sitting, held her up and pressed his chest against hers and put his hands firmly around her waist. “From the day I decided to commit my future to you, nothing has changed about it”. “My mind is made up and I have no doubt whatsoever as to having mixed feelings for you because my love for you today is still fresh like the first time we met”, Frank said and kissed her. “Get off me”, Rita said and pushed Frank away. “You only come here and give me your words and assurances and then you leave me hanging”. “We live in a society where these things really matter and I would not want to be put up for discussion by some people and tagged for the wrong reasons”. Frank looked at Rita and said to her, “Babe, no need to worry, you would carry your baby soon”. “You know what that means don’t you?”, Frank asked. That very minute Frank passed the comment, Rita took to her heels and Frank chased her around the hall a couple of times. He finally caught her in the middle of the hall, in front of their giant LED TV. “I am closed for business tonight”, Rita said while trying to catch her breath. “We need to make babies”, Frank whispered into her ears. “No, for credit, come tomorrow”, Rita replied and they both laughed uncontrollably. In the midst of the laughter, Frank grabbed Rita, carried her in his arms and marched towards their bedroom. “This is my house and I will not take no for an answer”, Frank said jokingly and shut their bedroom door. Leticia managed to pass out of law school and got called to the Bar almost immediately. She joined one of the top-tier law firms in the country and started making enough money to take care of her siblings. Rose was now in Senior High school and Augustus; their father had retired from active teaching. Leticia managed to rent a 2-bedroom apartment and moved out of the house in which she was born. After they left, they received occasional visits from the other occupants of the house. She had met a guy; Maxwell, a senior associate at her firm. He was a divorced man and had managed to win the custody of his two children after a fierce legal battle with his ex-wife. Even though he was ripe in age as compared to Leticia, he was very gentle and humble. He appeared to be very responsible and started a relationship with Leticia. Soon, he proposed to her and a marriage ceremony followed. Leticia and Bridget moved in to stay with Maxwell and his children in their estate mansion. Frank and Rita were at the wedding ceremony of Leticia which was organised in grand style.

It had been two years since the night Frank chased Rita around the hall and yet, children were not forthcoming. It was in the third year of that event that Rita finally took seed and to everyone’s amazement, Rita gave birth to twins and named them Edwin and Edwina. Frank continued to visit Bridget at Maxwell’s house and made sure she enjoyed the very best of everything life could offer.  Gabriel got married to his childhood sweetheart.  Rejoice was still hopping from one man to another……........

Life offers so many experiences if we will simply take time to ponder over some of the things we go through personally. I believe many of us can relate either with or to this story. I would not want to argue for guys to make the whole thing seem bias but I believe that our women are fragile and need to be treated as such. I realized that for some strange reason, women are attracted to “fresh attention” or fresh feelings or new people and would jump at any given opportunity to experience fresh feeling from these new people. I asked a lady friend of mine and she compared it to buying a new shoe. “You would treat the new one better”, she said. But should that always be the case? Sometimes, we seem to blame many factors for our shortcomings but one lesson I learnt from a very good friend is that, “Karma can’t always be blamed. You have to learn to believe in yourself and love yourself before you can genuinely love or share your being with another individual. Slow but steady always wins the race”. Some guys are troublesome. They may not be ready for commitment like Gabriel and would only want to play around with the feelings of others. It is hard to tell these signs if you asked me. We all need patience and forecast to tell these things. To everyone in a relationship, any kind of relationship we should “Cherish your significant other like you cherish your appearance, know your significant other and own them like a treasure you will never sell. Above all, nourish your love for each other only if you believe they will nourish us as well”. There are more lessons to be learnt because sometimes, when you have not really fallen flat on your face, you won’t know how it hurts treating a lip wound. Experiences are good only when they teach valuable lessons.  My name is EDWIN OKO LAMPTEY and this has been my “PRICELESS DREAMS SERIES©”. PRICELESS DREAMS EPISODE NINETEEN (19)

Leticia walked up to the side of the bed where she had placed her small travelling bag. She appeared visibly shaken, she felt used, she felt tricked, she had left Frank for Gabriel and now that decision was about to haunt her. She sat on the bed to recount the issues that had just happened. "No, Gabriel can't do this to me", Leticia said. "Who does he expect to take me in"?, she asked herself. She went back to the hall with tears in her eyes and sat beside Gabriel. He immediately shifted and looked at her almost fuming, "What are you still doing here?", Gabriel asked. "I am not leaving this house tonight or tomorrow", Leticia said. "I love you Gabriel, please don't abandon me in my condition". "I left Frank for you because I saw a prospective future with you, now you are abandoning me just because of a pregnancy", Leticia said. "Don't give me that crap". "You left Frank with your eyes open so don't pin that on me". "Your eyes were widely open when you slept with him for him to get you pregnant". "Don't tell me that he drugged you". "You have no excuse whatsoever, Leticia". If I were you, I would find my way back to Frank and apologize to him and hope that he would take you back if he loves you and wants to father your unborn baby", Gabriel added. "It is too late for that to happen, Gabriel, Frank is getting married to the nurse and I don't think he would change his mind because he was quite clear when we spoke", Leticia said. "Leticia, that is your funeral", Gabriel started. "I seriously want you out of this place”. “I am being a gentleman about the whole thing, I am not changing my mind so don’t bother trying to plead”, Gabriel added. True to his words, Gabriel’s position didn’t change despite the pleas from Leticia. Gabriel still held on to the uncertainty of what the future could bring if he accepted responsibility for the unborn child. He repeated his words to sound clearer to Leticia. . “Leticia, your chapter in my life has reached its end and it would be only logical for you to find the exit because I would not take upon myself the burden of taking care of another man’s child knowing full well of the repercussions it might have in the future”. Leticia gathered some courage and packed her stuff out of Gabriel’s house. When she got home, her father noticed a change in her countenance and upon enquiry; he received the shock of his life. His unassuming daughter had taken seed out of wedlock. That was not even a point of major concern, his major worry was the story linked to the pregnancy and the controversy that lay in its wake. Augustus decided to speak to Frank’s parents to decide on how the situation was going to be managed. “My son has made his choice and we are in support of it”, Frank’s mother spoke as Augustus visited Frank’s house. “We are willing to cater for the child and we would make sure that Frank fulfils all his responsibilities in the child’s upbringing but marriage between them would not be possible. Augustus, looking at the way the meeting was going spoke with a heavy heart, “I was not expecting the meeting to take the turn it is taking, I was hoping that we could come to a reasonable agreement but it seems we are not on the same page on this matter”. “I beg your pardon, sir, this is my home and I would not have anyone come in here to insult us”, Frank’s father spoke. “I didn’t mean to be rude but please, sir, let me go back home and consider the proposal offered, thank you”, Leticia’s father said and left their house. Leticia and her family accepted the terms of frank’s parents. Soon, Frank and Rita got engaged and had scheduled a date for their wedding. Rita was at work one day when she was told that she had received a visitor. It was Leticia. “Rita, I know you don’t like me, but I am begging you with the mercies of God Almighty, allow Frank to do the right thing which would be honourable”, Leticia said as she saw Rita entering the visitor’s lounge. “And what is the right and honourable thing, my dear?” “Marrying you as a second wife or divorcing me and marrying you?”, Rita asked. “If this is why you came here, please forget it”. “Frank and I are engaged and your baby won’t be a distraction at all, we love each other and I plan to stick with him through these times no matter what”, Rita added. “My dear, stop doing this to yourself, Frank doesn’t belong to you anymore”. “The only thing that the two of you would only have in common is this unborn child and I would make sure it stays there, trust me”, Rita added. Frank held the same view as his parents and Rita. He had already committed his future to Rita and there was no way he was going to undo his actions. Many people criticised his decision as going against tradition but any time that issue was raised, Frank’s only response was, “I don’t really care what you think, I have made my choice”. “I am not going to change my mind”. Soon, Leticia gave birth to a healthy baby girl and she was named Bridget. Frank had also gotten married to Rita but Rita had not gotten pregnant yet. Leticia’s daughter was a joy to behold and the pride of Frank. He was so intrigued at the thought of being a father. He captured most of his moments with Bridget on camera. He normally visited Leticia’s house alone and mostly on weekends to spend time with his daughter. Leticia took the opportunity to use the affection that Frank had for Bridget to get him to her side again. On one of his visits, Leticia threatened to kill the baby if Frank did not divorce Rita and take her as his wife. Frank knew he was just calling his bluff so he just brushed her aside. He only took her seriously when she rushed out with the baby in her hand and headed for their backyard. Frank got alarmed and quickly rushed after her. When Frank got there, Leticia had entered a wooden structure which served as  their washroom. Frank quickly went in and to his amazement, Leticia held the baby loosely over the open cesspit and away from Frank. "Even if you so much as think of taking another step closer, I am going to drop this baby into this pit and it would be a lose-lose situation for both of us and for you especially", she dared Frank. Frank stood there already furious but at the same time helpless because he knew that the Leticia he had known earlier had changed completely and he knew that her threats were anything but empty. He knew also that any wrong move he made was going to be disastrous. "Tish, that little girl is your baby; our baby, at least think of the number of months you had to carry her in your womb, think of the frustration associated with her birth and do not take any decision that both of us are going to regret", Frank begged as he stretched his hands toward the little baby girl in a frantic effort of saving her from being dropped. "Tell me if what you feel for me is love or just pity? "Tell me if you would even be standing here right now with me if not for the reason that we have a daughter together. I trusted you Frank, the least you could have done was to reciprocate that trust, instead, you stabbed me when I least expected and left me begging for dear life. The only way I can settle this score is by undoing what the two of us have done", Leticia said as she dangerously dangled the baby over the open cesspit. "So does that give you the right to play God? Does that give you the power to decide who lives and who dies? What we feel for each other is between the two of us and it is beside the point of you taking it out on this innocent baby”, Frank argued. All this while, the little baby was crying uncontrollably but the two adults cared less about the tears and screams of the baby or the stench emanating from the cesspit and kept on arguing with each other. "I never expected things to turn out this way but unfortunately, they have Frank, they have", Leticia continued as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Leticia, I wish things would have turned out differently but they didn’t and even if I wanted them to, it would be impossible”. “Try to understand where I am coming from”, Frank said as he uneasily moved towards Leticia in the stench-drenched washroom. Leticia took a step backwards and suddenly slipped towards the tip of the open cesspit….. FINAL EPISODE COMING SOON….WATCH THIS SPACE. PRICELESS DREAMS EPISODE EIGHTEEN (18)

Frank just took a quick look at the text message he had received from Leticia and quickly pushed the phone back into his pocket in such a manner that could be best described as ‘If you are pregnant, what do I care?’. He quickly went back to thinking about Rita and what was keeping her from showing up for their date. He had already started getting nervous and wondered if she was going to accept his proposal of a life together as man and wife. He was beginning to get extremely nervous because he knew this was a lifelong commitment and there was no turning back once the ‘move’ was made. He stood in front of the restaurant and took a look at his watch; time seemed to be at standstill when one had to make such decisions. He took consolation in the fact that; both he and Rita were madly in love with each other and felt comfortable around one another. He had no doubt whatsoever in his mind about the bold step he was about to take and in that moment; just that moment alone,  even the love and good times he shared with Leticia were relegated to the background. He could not wait any longer so he picked his phone and dialled Rita’s number. “God will punish you too, how dare you talk to me that way”, Rita said as she picked the phone. “Rita are you okay?”, an alarmed Frank asked. “Hello, Frank, I am sorry for keeping you waiting on me all this while”. “I am almost there so don’t fret”. “What was that about God punishing someone?”, Frank asked. “I will tell you about it when I see you”. Approximately twenty five minutes later, Rita turned up and it was worth the wait for Frank because Rita was looking ravishingly beautiful in her blue dress, light make-up and an emerald necklace laced with little pearls. The perfume she had on lingered in the place they met and Frank, being a gentleman and seeing the lady he intended to spend the rest of his life with, he rose up from his seat, walked up to her and ushered her to the table he had had reserved for the evening. As usual, they started with their usual chats and Frank took the opportunity to find out why she was ranting earlier. “Can you imagine, this rude taxi driver who picked me up”, Rita said with disgust on her face, “He wanted to cheat me by charging an outrageous fare and when I disagreed, he wanted to be abusive and I had to show him that I was no pushover”. “Really”, Frank said as he occasionally nodded his head in agreement. He was actually nodding because he was nervous and did not know how to propose to Rita and Rita too would not ‘shut up’ about the taxi incident. Frank did not want to jump the gun so he was contemplating on postponing his proposal till a later date. On second thoughts, he decided to give it a go and not waste any more time. “Rita, will you marry me?”, Frank said in a shaky voice. Rita was sipping strawberry smoothies. She quickly dropped the glass and asked, “What did you just say?”, as if she did not hear Frank the first time. “I said I want you to be my wife, Rita”. “I want you to spend your eternity with me”. “I love you so much”, Frank said as he trembled trying to take Rita’s hand into his palm. Rita appeared visibly shaken because she had not expected this question from Frank this soon. She began to tear up and stood up, stretched her head across the table towards Frank and kissed him. “Is that a yes?”, Frank asked nervously. “That is more than a yes, Frank so stop shaking like a leaf” “I will marry you, Frank”. “I realized that you were behaving strangely and I knew there was something on your mind but I didn’t know it was this wonderful surprise”, Rita added. Frank was so excited that Rita had accepted his proposal and instantly he was not hungry anymore. He smiled at Rita as she ate her food and refused the numerous invitations she made for him to join her. After the meal, Frank and Rita shared a bottle of wine and Frank did the honourable thing of dropping Rita off at her apartment in the nurse’s quarters. “Would you care to come in?”, Rita asked Frank as she disembarked from his car. “No, thank you”, Frank said. “Okay, if you say so”, Rita replied “But like we discussed, I will look for a suitable time so we meet my parents”, Rita added as she walked backwards to be able to shut the door of Frank’s car. “Okay, that is fine, take all the time you need to plan that”, Frank said. He said his final farewell and sped off towards his house. When he got to his gate, he remembered the text from Leticia but he felt it was probably too late into the night to call so he decided to call her in the morning. He lay on his bed thinking about the evening with Rita and soon fell asleep with a smile on his face. The next morning, he was running late for work and rushed to the kitchen to grab his breakfast when he received a call from Leticia, “Frank, did you see my text message last night?”, Leticia queried. “Yes, I did”, Frank said with his mouth full because he was eating bread when the call came through. “I was just about to call you because I have good news to share with you”, Frank said. “Just before I forget, Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope Gabriel comes out quickly to see your parents before your baby bump starts to show, you know if that happens, he would be made to pay a penalty right?”, Frank explained. “He is a lucky man and you are a wonderful lady, Tish so don’t give him too much stress”, Frank added. “What are you talking about, Frank?”, Leticia asked. “I am carrying your baby, not Gabriel’s”. “We have not made love in a long while and you are the last person I have been intimate with so you do the math”. There was dead air for a while, then Frank spoke, “This cannot be possible, Tish”. “No Tish, this cannot be happening”. It cannot be true”. “I can’t believe this”. “Not at this time”. Frank shot out. “What has time got to do with me carrying your child?”. “Leticia, I have asked Rita to marry me and she has agreed”. “This pregnancy will therefore undo all my efforts and I am not going to compromise on that, trust me”, Frank said. “What is that supposed to mean, Frank?”, Leticia asked. “It means by accepting responsibility of this baby, I would have to forfeit my proposal and lose Rita”. “Do you understand that?”, Frank asked. “I don’t care, Frank and I am not having an abortion if you are even thinking of that”. “I know what you are doing, Tish”. “You are bent on sabotaging my happiness with this pregnancy”. “So if this is a joke, cut it out because some jokes are pretty much expensive”, Frank said. “You are just being jealous”, Frank added. “You can think whatever you want dear but the fact still remains that I am pregnant and you are responsible”, Leticia said and hang up the line. Frank appeared disoriented after the phone conversation. He had done a terrible mistake of not telling Rita of what had happened between himself and Leticia. He did not know how he was going to break the news to Rita if it was established that he was truly the father of Leticia’s unborn child. “What have I done?” “How am I going to possibly explain this to Rita if it turns out to be true?”, Frank asked himself as he drove to work. He asked Leticia to meet him in his hospital for a proper test to be run since he did not believe in the potency of the test kits that were sold outside. As they sat outside waiting for the lab report, Leticia engaged Frank, “Is that what you think of me?”, “I will never want to see you unhappy and this pregnancy is never a trap to sabotage or blackmail you in any way”, Leticia said. “It is not as if I knew you were going to ask that nurse to marry you in the first place”, Leticia added. Frank was about to speak when the lab technician called him to come for the result slip. He opened it with fear and trembling and it confirmed that Leticia was indeed pregnant but there was still an uncertainty hanging unresolved; was the baby for Frank or Gabriel? Frank had to confront Rita and confess to her, the same way, Leticia had to inform Gabriel about the turn of events. Frank called Rita immediately he closed from work and asked her to meet him at his house. “Frank, is everything okay?”. “You know I hate it when you keep me in suspense”. “Can’t you just tell me what the matter is?”, she pleaded. “No”, Frank insisted. “Meet me and let us talk about it”. Rita left what she was doing and dashed to Frank’s house. “I am here now so tell me what you have to tell me”, Rita said nervously. “I have a confession to make”, Frank said. “What is it my dear?” “Have you changed your mind?”, Rita asked. “Far from that”, Frank said. “The thing is that, Leticia is pregnant”. “Congrats to her, but what has that got to do with us?”, Rita asked. “I think I am responsible”. The second Frank finished his submission; he received two slaps in the face. “I knew you could not stay away from your first love but I expected better from you, Frank”, Rita said. “I am highly disappointed in you, Frank”, Rita added. “What are we going to do about it now?”, she asked. Frank, who was rubbing his cheek after the slaps sheepishly said, “I don’t know, Rita, I am just confused”. “I will delve into how this happened later but for now, do you still love her or you want to be with me?”, Rita asked. “I want you, Rita, Frank answered back, holding his check so as not to receive further slaps. “Then you have nothing to worry about”. “We will find a way of solving this issue”. “If this girl thinks she can break me to leave you for her, then she has another thing coming”, Rita said. Meanwhile, Leticia was waiting on Gabriel to return so she could break the news to him. She was hopeful that he was going to take it in good faith and accept responsibility as the unborn child’s makeshift father. Immediately Leticia told Gabriel about her pregnancy and who was responsible, he shot at her, “I knew you would go crawling back to that guy”. “I was actually waiting for this day and true to my speculation, you did not disappoint me”. “I have always had my doubts about you and was waiting patiently for something to go wrong and I am glad you have proved my suspicions right”, Gabriel said. “Gabriel, I am shocked”, Leticia said. “Does that mean that you never trusted me all this while?”, Leticia asked. “I did, but I had my doubts because ladies cannot be trusted nowadays”. “My dear lady, your chapter in my life has reached its climax and it would be only prudent for you to find the exit because I would not take upon myself the burden of taking care of another man’s child knowing full well of the repercussions it might have in the future”, Gabriel added. “Please pack your stuff and leave my house now”, Gabriel added……  My name is Edwin Oko Lamptey and this is my “Priceless Dreams ©”….
